My Story
Demetria Clayton is a true poet at heart beginning writing in early childhood. While attending an elementary school’s talent show the poem “Hey Black Child” by Maya Angelou was performed which sparked her interest in poetry. Shortly after graduating from a Catholic High School called St. Francis de Sales in Chicago Illinois Demetria began a family which led her away from writing poetry; She then began to pursue the trade of cosmetology. After completing that program Demetria decided to return to school for her college degree in criminal justice. Demetria believes that the justice system is corrupted and if she could do anything to help improve the rates of recidivism in our country it is worth a try. After much-continued education and three children later, she received her master’s degree in forensic science from Ashford University. While obtaining her degrees she has done countless hours of community service work and volunteering with the American Breast Cancer Society, the WYMCA Rape Victims Advocate Program, the Save our Sisters program, and many other philanthropy activities. Demetria has also obtained certificates in Christian leadership and a Bible scholar Deacon Ministry award from the Christian Leaders Institute. Demetria Has also organized her own nonprofit organization to minimize the rate of bullying in our society called Kutiez Company. Through this nonprofit Demetria offers counseling services, and community development, she has also developed a platform to broadcast the unique gifts and talents of others. It is very important to her that every individual feels special.
Most recently Demetria has also started a podcast for her organization called “We’re all Kutiez Here Podcast” on this program she discusses major topics and valuable life tools along with a portion set aside for poetry. Once completing her master’s degree and having free time available, she picked back up her pen and returned to her first love Poetry. Recently Demetria hosted a radio show called “What’s The Word” on the One Love Poetry Series Network which streams across many social media platforms such as YouTube, Blog Talk Radio, I Heart Radio, and Clubhouse. Mrs. Clayton also obtained a second master's degree in Business Entertainment from Full Sail University. Furthermore, she has advanced her career in the industry by receiving a certification in radio and television broadcasting from Miami Media School through the Beonair network.
